This series covers the enormous breadth of student achievement in today’s inclusive classrooms. Meaningful activities have been included that assist and challenge learners to move beyond their present achievements.

Diagrams of animals capture students’ attention and motivate them to engage with the literacy activities. The activities improve students’ literacy skills, both expressive and receptive. Comprehension is an ongoing focus that is carefully mixed with other activities that develop students reading accuracy, writing skills and language.

At the earliest levels students engage in several shared activities, providing them with the confidence to explore language and the written word. Higher skill levels are matched with more challenging individual tasks. At the highest level, in addition to demanding comprehension and written activities, students gain confidence with the use of research resources – a frequently neglected area.
