Maurice Hogan was a Secondary English/Social Science teacher prior to entering the Special Education field. He has taught students with special needs for over 30 years in secondary and special schools. He also held a senior position with the Esk Support Service as a resource teacher and had a particular focus upon students with disabilities in regular schools - Prep to Grade 12.

He was the Inclusive Curriculum Officer for the Northern Branch in Tasmania and has also been a Learning Support Leader. He also worked as a Special Education Advisor for Learning Services North in Tasmania.

Maurice has completed a Bachelor of Education, two Graduate Diplomas in Special Education (Tasmania and Western Australia), and a Master of Educational Studies (Queensland Uni.). He has completed Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic Training (2022) and the post-graduate unit Dyslexia, via Torrens Uni.

He has a special interest in the areas of ‘literacy’ and ‘repeated reading’, and this current publication incorporates aspects that he has found, theoretically and practically, promote maximum student learning and increased independence. In his spare time Maurice enjoys beekeeping and gardening.
