Elements of The Reading Repairer

The Reading Repairer is a teaching program enabling the user to teach skills that will enable a student to significantly improve their reading ability.

The core focus is to improve the decoding of older students. I, and others, have taught many older students with The Reading Repairer who have become independent readers.

The teaching of phonics, structural analysis, syllabification and spelling are each integrated into this program. Each student using the program is provided with an individualized program according to their needs. Teaching is explicit, sequenced, repetitive and requires mastery level outcomes. Details of how to use this program, including diagnostic resources, are in the Series 1 booklet.

Other booklets in this series focus upon specific phonics or structural analysis content needed to read independently. Each student’s diagnostic results will indicate which of the other 7 booklets a student will require.

Benefits

  • Improve reading ability

  • Individualised program
